Berlin has a virtually endless number of hotels of all kinds and categories. From the classic cozy family owned Hotel in some side street of Charlottenburg to the top top class 5 Star Hotels in the City Centre – there should be something for everybody.
I would love to have a closer look at all of them – literally a closer look – but I fear I neither have the time, nor the money to do so. But as an inside outsider (or outside insider?) I will at least try to have a look at some of the hotels, that I find interesting in one way or the other.
Between 2000 and 2015 the number of hotel beds in Berlin has almost doubled. Currently you can choose from one of over 130.000 hotel beds – that’s about 30.000 more beds than New York City hotels have to offer (source: Amt für Statistik Berlin-Brandenburg).
On the other hand Berlin has quite a collection of special hotels. Be it cozy family owned hotels or ‘Design-Hotels’ – or the above mentioned luxury hotel – Berlin has something for everybody. On this page I will try to list a few ‘special hotels’ and I hope this might give you an impression of what to expect from Berlin hotels.
Hotel Adlon (official name: Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin)
The original Hotel Adlon once was one of the most famous hotels in Europe. It opened its doors in 1907 and became not only a top overnight accommodation for the rich and famous, but also a venue hosting events and parties and had basically everything to offer, the upper class society expectd: ballrooms, a ladies’ lounge, a library, a music room, a cigar shop, and even an interior garden with a Japanese-themed elephant fountain. Top notch. Read on…
